Hola,
Transfers week, and this time I was finally transferred...back to my first area, Sudley! Actually the other half of my first area, so I get to work with new members and new investigators. Unfortunately, my old Ward Mission Leader moved to Utah, so he isn't here anymore. (If I "die" here, I think I will make a record by only having a two area mission!)
Anyway, this week has been crazy! Before transfers the Senior couple Davis, invited my old district over to have another rib eating contest. Hermana Pettit and Elder Piña were really the only ones in the competition, but in the end, Elder Galvan creamed them both! He ate 21 ribs! And all together, our district finished off 8 racks of ribs without breaking a sweat! After we all got transfer calls, our district met up at Duck Donuts one last time. They are seriously so good, they make them right I front of you! I also got to go the the Visitor's Center with one of our investigators before I left. We had a great lesson there! Once we got to transfer meeting, to our dismay, Hna Moberly and Hna McMillan (had) eft before any of us got there! On the bright side, we finally got new Hermanas, and Hna Garcia is now in my district! The first thing we did was go grocery shopping to prepare ourselves for the STORM OF 2016! The storm was actually pretty crazy and we got a bunch of snow! Because Virginia doesn't have a lot of equipment to deal with snow, we were trapped in our apartment complex for two days! Well, what we really did was, walk to the church, grabbed shovels, and have been shoveling cars out for the past three days!! We LITERALLY shoveled snow from 12-8 yesterday and only stopped once for 30 min to eat! One lady that had us shovel her car was so grateful that she ordered us a pizza and walked all the way out to a main road to pick it up for us!
One thing that I learned from shoveling all that snow is that I want to live somewhere tropical. Haha, but in all seriousness I learned something that I have already said before, we can move mountains with our faith...one shovel scoop at a time. Looking at all the cars that were so buried in snow, the task to unbury it almost seemed impossible, however little by little, one scoop at a time, we shoveled out around 25 cars! It wasn't easy. I don't think my body has ever been more physically exhausted, but it (was) possible!! Faith is a principal of action. There were many people outside complaining and wishing that their car was unburied, but really without any action on their part, nothing got done. So, (as) with any challenge we might have in life, it won't be easy and it won't go away fast, it takes work and time, but I know that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthenth me."
Until next week,
Hermana Peabody
I love the analogy that Ashley makes here! She teaches me all the time! I love that girl and love that she still loves her mission!!
Ashley sent some great photos of the snow and some group pics of her and her companion, and with Elders, shoveling "mountains" of snow!
