Aw man, this week was amazing!!! The week started off by me finding out that my friend Clair is getting baptized, so that just made my whole week!!! Maybe my whole year! The other reason it was great is because Hna Riddle and I are killing this area! There are going to be a lot of baptisms in our ward this transfer and the next! So, some funny stories this week...
First, we had a lesson with Marta, but as soon as we pulled up to her house, her family was just leaving in their car. We flagged them down and they said that they were going to Chick-fil-a for dinner. We NEEDED to have a lesson with her because it has been forever, so without even really thinking I asked if we could go with them! Ya, so we followed them to Chick-fil-a and had a lesson there! We changed her baptism date to the 14th, but she still really wants to get baptized. The only problem is she doesn't come to church!!!!! We wrote a note to her boss Buffy explaining how important church is for Marta and asking if she could get sundays off, but I guess it didn't work beca she wasnt there this week!!! in fact, NONE of our investigators were!!! It was really frustrating! Don't these people understand that this will change their life!?!?
Next, We finally got in contact with a referral from the stake presidency. His name is Jose, we have talked to him on the phone a couple times and had a few appointments set up, but they never worked out. We had an appointment with him, so we drove to his house. We knocked on the door, and called but nobody answered. we almost got all the way back to our apartment when he called us back saying that he had to get his car fixed and that he was at Taco Bell and that we could meet him there! Yes! Only problem was, we had no idea which Taco Bell, there are lots... but we drove down the road it was supposed to be near, and by some miracle, we found it!!! He is so golden! Such a sweet guy, and he already wants to find a new job so he can come to church on sundays! I cant wait to teach him!
Another great new investigator we got this week is Julio. We were looking for his wife, and we were actually about to drop her, but he answered and was curious about out church. We were talking a little bit about how the book of mormon is what separates us from other Christian religions when he asked how long we have been speaking spanish. We told him just a few months and he was BLOWN AWAY! I said that we have the help of God to speak spanish because the message we are sharing is very important and TRUE! After that, he seemed super interested, and said he really wants to come to church next week! I LOVE sharing the gospel, seeing that light in his eyes was priceless!
Ok, now for my favorite story of this week! We also haven't seen the Torres family in forever! They didn't show up for mutual AGAIN! so we went to their house to see if they were there. They weren't but their oldest son was there and he said they were in a field behind the mall. So, we drove around the mall trying to find them. We found the fields and we found them! BUT, not only that but another one of our investigators, Erika, that we haven't been able to meet with because she is too busy was there too!!!! Her kids and the Torres kids play soccer on the same team!!! Haha, so now we know where they go all the time and they can't hide from us anymore!
Hna Riddle and I were talking about all our experiences this week, and we realized just how guided we are by the Spirit as missionaries. We NEEDED to find these people and we had a lot of help finding them. God will put prepared people in our path, and he will guide us to them!!! God's plan is so perfect, and I am so grateful to be a part of it!
Also we read a talk or something written by a former missionary called Own Your Area. Hna Riddle and I are going to use her ideas to help strengthen our ward! We work pretty well together, and I'm so excited what we can do this transfer!!!
Lots of love,
Hermana Peabody
Not many photos this week, but Ashley is doing so well! She loves her mission and I love that she loves it! She is setting such a great example for her family, while doing such an important work!
Here is another little conversation we had together:
"Mom:
So cute! You look great and happy. Still love that you love your mission!!!
Ashley:
Yep, I cant imagine my life without going on one!
Mom:
Im glad and you have made a great impression on your siblings!
Ashley:
Good! im so glad our family loves the church! I would be heartbroken if they ever fell away or went inactive like some of the people we visit.
Mom:
Yes, it's hard. I hope we all always stay strong. Satan is real and can pull many away. We always need to just love like Christ and keep His spirit with us always! (by going to church and understanding the sacrament blessings!) We have many in our own ward at home that we need to love and work on. A life of work for ourselves and others!
Ashley:
Hna Riddle and I were talking about how awesome it would have been if we could just have been missionaries from birth. Then we realized, that was Jesus. I always want to share the gospel now, I hope that never goes away.
Mom:
Well--we can always be missionaries, but you have been set apart with a special call to serve full time. What a great opportunity it is and has been for you. Life does get busy when we are not "full time" missionaries, but we can always want to share what we know with others. And living the gospel is also a wonderful way to show what we believe."
LOVE THIS GIRL!!!
