Ashley (Hermana Peabody) and her new companion, Hermana Debry!
Wow, this week was PACKED with so many fun things! Monday seems sooo long ago, this has been a long week (but in a good way).
Highlights:
We had the Hermanas activity at the Mission Home with Sister Huntsman, she made us all lunch. She is so cute, I love her! She is so sweet. We played volleyball in their back yard, and just talked the whole day.
Tuesday, was Spanish Forum, which was AMAZING! We talked about finding joy in our missions no matter what the circumstances, among other things, it was just what I needed. We are all pretty close in the Spanish program, its so fun, we literally are like a big family!
Thursday was TRANSFERS, and I got a new companion! I'm now companions with Hna DeBry, the funniest, happiest Hermana we have! I'm so excited for this transfer, I'm going to learn soooo much! It is so sad though, because now I'm old enough in the mission to be close with the people that are going home. Hna Schultz went home, and we all miss her!:(
Saturday was the most fun day of my entire life!!! Both the DC South and North missions got to go to the Washington Nationals Baseball game!!! It took us forever to get the the game because the metro was not working, but we finally made it and we had a BLAST!!! I got to see everyone for the third time in one week! Getting home from the game was a whole different story...we got on about three wrong trains and the metro still wasn't working, so we got home at about 1AM. We were so tired on Sunday, we were falling asleep in church!
And despite all that, we still were able to get a lot of work done!
Something I learned:
2 Nephi 2:25 "Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have JOY." We talked all about joy and happiness in our Spanish Forum. As missionaries there are many ways to find joy, and it is theoretically easy to have joy on a mission because we are doing God's work and helping others. Even though missions are very hard at times, we have to remember that every trial we have will be four our benefit and will help our joy increase in the future. God's plan is so perfect, HE LOVES US SO MUCH! To have the most joy and happiness possible on our missions we need to give it our all, we can't hold anything back from the Lord, no regrets. Same for non-missionaries, to have the most joy and happiness, our will should be God's will and we should strive to always serve Him with all our heart might mind and strength. God's way is always the easier way in the end.
I LOVE YOU ALL
Hermana Peabody
Well, she had a great week and TOMORROW IS HER 20TH BIRTHDAY! Neither she nor her MOM can believe she is going to be 20! Packages have arrived for her over the past week and she was going to wait to open them, but it was a bit too tempting--and she opened them early--loving the gifts she received! She has one more surprise coming in the morning (although, due to the fact that she HATES SURPRISES I have "pre-warned" her that my good childhood friend, Diane Bywater Volcansek, is bringing her one more birthday treat in the morning! Ashley stated in the past that she will probably receive multiple birthday cakes from her Spanish families, so I'm having Diane take her something a little different! Diane said there is a great new doughnut place down the street from Ashley's apartment--so an amazing assortment is on it's way, and personally delivered by one of my best childhood friends! Perfecto!
