New Trio Companionship! Hermanas Peabody, Christensen and Garcia!
Ahhh, so this has been a CRAZY week!
Hermana Atkinson had to go to a different area so now I am in a trio (same Ward) but we still have to cover two areas!! My mission president (said) that we are allowed to keep both cars so that I can go on lots of exchanges with the members to keep up with all the work we are doing! Too bad I only got to learn the area for two weeks and now I get to lead it out! BUT, it is super fun being in a trio! I never wanted to be in a trio, but we are a pretty cool... Haha. Fortunately I got to stay in my appartment because it is bigger and much better suited for a trio (two bathrooms!). Hermana Christensen is training Hermana Garcia, I am not a co-trainer with her, but it is so fun to be companions with a greenie, it brings more fire into the companionship! Hna Garcia is SOOO hilarious and we got along right away, even when we were not companions. And of course, I have always wanted to be companions with Hna Christensen. I am pretty bummed that my time was cut short with Hna Atkinson, but it was fun while it lasted.
This week two of the Hermanas' investigators got baptized, and another one is on date! Things are looking good on my half too. One of our investigators (who is married to a less active) had their baby blessed in church and we are hoping to get her on date very soon! We are also working with a lot of part member families, and there is a lot of potential here in this area. It is so great to see how far this Ward has come since I left! I previously thought I would end my mission here, but due to the circumstances this might be my last. I hope I can stay here longer because it feels like we are just getting started, but we can't always get what we want.
Today we went to the International Spy Museum...it was so fun! I love being able to go to DC and not be a tourist ;) I also hit my 13 month mark! Ahh, time is flying by way to fast!
This week I learned (for the second time) that surprise transfers are not that bad. Even though we go through a lot of unexpected things on the mission and in our lives, God always knows what is going to happen and he won't let us fail. I love being with Hna Garcia and seeing her love and determination for the work. She might not have the finesse or skills as older missionaries, but I realized that doesn't matter at all. She bares her testimony and it brings the Spirit so strong, which is way more important than knowing how to explain the apostasy. God will never let us fail. We are all out here at this specific time and place because we are meant to be. I know there are still so many things I don't know, but I do know the gospel is true, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that Joseph Smith is a prophet!
See y'all next week,
Hermana Peabody
Well, the "Hermana Mamas" as we call ourselves (Translation: Moms of the Spanish Sisters/missionaries) tried to figure out what would happen in the mission this past week since one of the Hermanas had to come home for health reasons. We (the moms) actually got to meet this Hermana, have lunch with her and her mom, and got to pick her brain about our girls in the mission! It was awesome! We found out that Ashley was going to be in this Trio, and from some of Ashley's past letters, I knew she was going to like these Hermanas and would be happy with them as her new companions! So glad I was right.
Ashley's mission is flying by for both her and I. I miss her, but know she is thriving and doing so well, and I wouldn't want her anywhere else at this time! She is serving the Lord and those around her, and even though those who are learning the gospel from Ashley, Ashley is gaining so many blessings in return--as is our family! Love it all!!
