The highlight of the week was obviously general conference! It was so good, I love conference! We watched two sessions in Spanish (thankfully with English subtitles) and two in English, one at a senior missionary couples house. I heard an analogy this week that goes like this... God is like a huge bright chandelier, when we start walking closer to the chandelier we can see better how dirty we actually are, but if we can't see how dirty we are, we can't wash off all the spots. So Ether 12:27 is totally different now for me than is has ever been. I always focused on the weak things becoming strong, but now I can see the truth of the first sentence, "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness." Going on a mission is coming unto God, and because of that, I am starting to see more clearly all my weaknesses that I couldn't see before. It is hard, but I am so glad that I am learning them now so that I have a chance to work on them and become better instead of finding out later when it will be harder, or even worse, never realizing them and not having the chance to reach my full potential. So anyway, conference was awesome because now I am better prepared to know how I can start changing (repenting) and working on the things I need to. I know I am still at the beginning of my mission, but I can already see that it is stretching me like nothing ever has before. Also, we are getting three new temples!!! So cool! Every talk was so good.
We also went to DC today with the other Hermanas in our district, Hermanas Tate and Shultz. It takes a while to get there from were we live because we can't drive our cars out of our district. So we took the metro, saw the pencil thing , walked through the museum of natural history (the one in Night at the Museum), and went to a couple stores. It was a quick trip because we can't stay for very long, but it was fun. So many people either stopped us or said "Hi Sisters!" there were lots of mormons there, it was awesome. I might get to go to the Temple this week too if I get to stay with Hermana Moberly, because she knows a couple from her last area that is getting sealed of Friday! I would love to go to the temple with her and get to watch an actual sealing!
Anyways, the work here has its ups and downs, but its great. Its hard, but I love it. We had a great time showing the Easter video to as many people as we could!
El esta aqui, entonces, ahora, y siempre!
In a separate note to mom, Ashley says:
Conference was great, I'm glad you taught me to "hear the music". Glad Tyler had a good birthday! We will find out today or tomorrow what is happening with transfers. H Moberly loved the package, thank you so much for sending it.
I'm still so proud of Ashley's attitude and perseverance! She got to visit "PEABODY" street and as a junior companion, gets to fill the gas tank of the car! (have to pay your dues!) Ashley also received a darling Easter cookie bouquet from our good friend, Lisa Sipple--Ashley loved it! Tomorrow she and Hermana Moberly find out if either of them will be given new assignments or locations. Ashley will be sad to leave Hermana Moberly if they change, but she'll meet another great companion and learn even more! Ashley said she'll send her DC photos in next week's email. She also gets to order some more of her missionary name tags and is going to send one to MOM--can't wait to put it in her book!
