Okay, I'm going to start off with the (non-spiritual) highlight of the week...
On wednesday we had a Zone service project doing a bunch of yard work for an old widowed lady. She is not a member, but the missionaries do service for her from time to time. I love doing service like that, when we get to pull weeds and mow grass! BUT, the reason why this was the highlight of the week is because there was a group of us working on the backside of the house trimming bushes when a HUGE snake pops out!!! It literally was probably about 3 or 4 feet long! Our whole zone came to try to see if we could get it out of the bushes and far away from her house. Luckily Elder Hall is an "animal expert" and he and a few other Elders came up with the idea to poke the snake to lure him out. Long story short, the snake got mad but they put him safely back into the woods using gardening tools. haha
We also had a really fun time on Saturday, our whole mission did a "Book of Mormon Challenge" each zone was competing to see who could pass out the most books in one day. As a zone, our goal was to pass out 10 books per companionship! Unfortunately, it was a little bit harder than usual because it was raining all day, so everyone was hiding inside! Hna Rasmussen and I knocked doors for 2 hours and we were only able to give out 4. The cool thing however is that we found a kid who said that he was baptized back in his country with his aunt, but he hasn't been to church since he moved to America with his family! It is so cool how God always places people in your path! We were super busy with appointments the rest of the night, but before the day was over we got to pass two more books out! and as a zone we passed out 75!!
Other than that, the week has been pretty regular, I gave a talk in Sacrament yesterday about the scriptures (the same topic from last week when we taught Relief Society), and we taught Primary because two of our investigators that came to church were primary age. It was a fun Sunday.
It has been so rainy for weeks now, and I love it! it makes everything SO green! and it hasn't gotten hot yet, so i'm loving it! It is going to be hard to leave such a beautiful place!! I'm so glad I get to be serving here in Virginia. I love every minute of it! (even when we go knocking doors in the rain and get rejected) I love serving my Heavenly Father and learning and growing more as I do.
Lots of love,
Hermana Peabody
Well, NO photos this week--not even one--so, the pic above is an old one, but one Mama likes! I wonder how much trouble I"m going to get in, when Ashley comes home and sees her blog for the first time! Enjoy it now, because she may just delete the whole thing! No, not really. I think she will like what I have pieced together for her--despite my comments, which I wasn't really supposed to make! I think I was just supposed to post her "Main Email" and leave it at that--no way! Ashley's mission has been a joy for her mother just as much as for Ashley (minus all the hard work, of course.)
Hoping for more photos next week, as our time is quickly coming to an end.
