Well, we didn't do much this week, just the usual missionary routine.
Hna DeBry and I were talking, and we both feel like our motivation/our
drive has decreased. The work has been slow, this Ward has not had a
single convert baptism this whole year! We also came to find out that
our whole mission in general is struggling, we haven't even made it to
half of our yearly goal for baptisms. At first we thought that was
normal, because things usually tend to slow down with a new mission
president while he is trying to get the hang of things, but we had
dinner with one of the stake leaders this week and he said that ALL
the missions in this whole area are struggling! DC South, DC North,
Boston, and Roanoke. What is going on!? So Hna DeBry and I had a
special fast this Sunday to find out what we can do to get that fire
back, because even if the whole area is slowing down, our area
(Springlake B) will be the only exception, and we will own our area! We
are going to work our tails off all the way until the end of Hna
DeBry's mission. We are going to sprint to the finish line (and) she is
going to be so tired, she will sleep the whole plane ride home.
The highlight of the week was getting to go to a baptism! Hna DeBry
found Carlos a year ago, and he finally decided that he was ready to
be baptized! Sometimes we forget to be patient, because we want these
people to get baptized asap, but we have to remember that God's plan
is always better than our own.
Sorry this email isn't too exciting. But hey, we are going to the
Reston Zoo today with the English sisters! Oh, and today is my 8
months!! I almost freaked out yesterday because I thought I almost had
9 and that would mean I'm halfway done! But fortunately, I still have
most of my mission ahead of me. Until next week,
Hermana Peabody
Well, this week was a short email week, and I didn't get one single photo from Ashley. Fortunately, one of Ashley's past companions emailed me and sent me a photo of a Skype session for the baptism Ashley referred to above (Thanks Hna Evans!) So that is the only photo this week!
I can't believe it's already been 8 months today since Ashley left. It has been such a wonderful experience for both her and her family! We are so happy that she is working for the Lord and learning along the way.
Hopefully more photos next week.
