Ashley's email:
This week was fine, it really feels like the end is coming so soon! Sundays are always the best because we just have devotionals and movies. Our first devotional was from President Tanorio, he talked about specific prayers. I didnt even know it was a thing, but it was soo good. He told us about a missionary that lost his backpack with all he owned in the back of a taxi, he was so upset, so he said a specific prayer, he told God that he would be standing outside of the 7 11 near their appartment for one hour holding a sign that said "looking for my backpack", he then asked that the taxi driver would return his bag and that nothing would be stolen. After 58 min of waiting at the 7 11, he was about to give up, but then the taxi driver rolled up with his backpack in his hand and said "dont worry, I didnt steal anything, im a Christian." Tanorio, told us a lot more stories about specific prayers. They work through your obediance and faith, but they dont always work.
The next devotional was kind of a kick in the butt for us. Before I got to the CCM I was told to only speak spanish and i would learn so much faster, well I forgot/ignored the advice and now it kind of feels like I have wasted 4 weeks of learning! For the last two weeks of the CCM, our district is only speaking spanish (p day is the exeption.) We are doing a really big English Fast. The vedio on Sunday was about the Restoration and Joseph Smith, it was so good. Just think of all the blessings we get because of a 14 year old boy praying with faith...
Time is flying by and im getting excited for DC, but at the same time, DC is the real world, and we are teaching real people, super scarry!!!
Ashley is still enjoying her time at the MTC. She wishes her Spanish was better but said the spirit helps her get the point across! When I asked her how learning the Spanish was going, she replied: The point of the CCM is not to learn spanish, the point is to learn how to invite others to come unto christ. thats why we dont have specific spanish teachers. Also thought of the week... I realised that with my faith i can move a mountain, i just have to go out and start moving it one shouvle scoop at a time. Some fun treats from friends/family delivered this week. Ashley and Hermana Evans dressed up like Disney's Anna and Elsa this week (both are Disney fans!) Ashley loves to craft and so makes stuff for her lessons and is making "Valentines" for her district--mini Libro de Mormons with the scripture John 13:34 inside: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
**NOTE: A disclaimer Ashley hopes to convey is that there may be many misspelled words due to the fact that she is typing emails on Spanish computers and everything comes up red-lined since the computer has a hard time recognizing English words.
