We had an AMAZING week filled with miracles! We also had a great
fiesta, did a lot of service and had a lot of meetings...busy week!
First, we have been working with a super less active family. The lady
used to be relief society president, but once she was released then
went inactive and they haven't been to church in three years! Anyway
we have been visiting them and they came to our ward activity, the
first miracle! Then on Sunday, they all came to church! It was
amazing, they loved the activity and this Sunday was the Primary
Program, so they loved that too! We have had some powerful lessons
with them and I think they are going to come back, they have the
desire to return.
Miracle two, there have not been any baptisms in this ward the whole
year, which is kind of absurd for a Hispanic ward. So we as
missionaries wanted to have a meeting with the leadership with the
ward to talk about how we can better work together to help our
investigators. we were kind of worried about the meeting because we
didn't know how the leadership would take it or if it would even have
an impact on them. However it went amazing! The leaders loved it and
we taught them things they never knew before, even some tears were
shed! So , ya...we are going to have a lot more progress now!
Another miracle from earlier in the week was that someone broke into
our car at night in our apartment complex, the door was open and all
of our stuff was taken out of the glove compartment and thrown around,
but the miracle was that nothing was stolen! Not even the GPS that was
in plain sight!
Other miracles that we saw this week were that our investigator
Katherinne finally went to church again, our investigator Ashley is
making friends in the Young Womens, we found a ride to go to a
fireside all the way in Sudley and a ride for our investigators, and a
whole bunch of less actives came to church as well!! This all might
not seem like a lot to any of you, but to us it means the world!
This week I also probably did the most embarrassing thing I have ever
done in my life this week, but the sad part was that I wasn't even
embarrassed! Friday we had a ward party because the month of October
is Hispanic culture month. So each October all of the Hispanic wards
have a Dia de Hispanidad, and it's basically the biggest party of the
year! Everyone makes food from their country and brings decorations
and lots of people dress up in native costumes and clothes, it is
super fun! The embarrassing part was that Hna DeBry and I and the
Elders were given Mexican outfits to wear...they were pretty authentic
let me tell you! We were the most popular people of the party,
everyone wanted to get a picture with us! The picture I have attached
is with our Bishop.
We also got to go to Manassas again for the fireside! it was so great
to see so many of the members I used to work with! And they even
remembered me...bonus! Hna DeBry gave her testimony because she leaves
this week. Man, I'm gonna miss that girl. We have a busy P day today
because we have to do EVERYTHING!
The work is picking up over here and I cant wait for all the miracles
we will see this next transfer! I love being a missionary, and so I'm
soaking up every moment I have! Love you all!
Hermana Peabody
(Wow, this picture is so embarrassing)
Well, this picture is very close to fulfilling one of "Daddy's" dream ideas! Since Ashley was a little girl, Dad has always told Ashley that she should have a Mariachi band at her wedding! Well, he is quite hopeful for her future with these photos!
Miracles are real in everyone's lives, whether big or small--and these are some great miracles in the lives of the families Ashley gets to share her time with.
This is the last few days Hermana DeBry and Ashley will be together as Hermana DeBry goes home this week! I get to visit her in a couple weeks and hear her homecoming address in Las Vegas! Can't Wait!
