This week in one sentence: The gospel is true!
(I don't really know how I would describe my week in one sentence, so that's all you get.)
Something awesome: It has been pretty rainy lately, so it's not
deathly hot, only humid. This Ward is awesome and so nice! We were
invited to a lady's birthday party and when we got there they made us
fresh pupusas that were amazing and they loaded us up with leftovers!
One lady made us some banana bread for no reason at all. We got to
help a member paint her walls, and she helped us learn Spanish (she is
not Hispanics, but she majored in Spanish and lived in El Salvador for
a while and is married to an El Salvadorian) she is awesome!
Something not so awesome: We only hade three other lessons with
investigators, and out of the many people we invited to a ward
baptism, nobody came! Also the Mosquitos continue to flock to me, and
I have about 50 bites on my legs, it looks like I have a disease or
something! Haha
Mission life: We got a referral from the English missionaries , they
said she wanted to know more about how we use the bible and the Book
of Mormon, so we decided to call her. Haha, she was funny! She was
trying to teach us how we are wrong and reading false doctrine all
over the phone, she said we could come over sometime so she can
explain more. We aren't going over :) the poor English missionaries
probably got the same lecture, they just had no idea what the lady was
saying!
Hispanic fact(s) of the week: Hispanics always leave the bones in
their meat. Right now you are thinking, well that's pretty normal,
nothing new there, however there is more... Hispanics leave the bones
in their meat, and will put those chunks of meat into soup, and better
yet they will only give us a spoon to was it! Haha, it's pretty
common, but I've gotten pretty good at cutting meat with spoons!
Something I learned this week: Wow, I have been learning a lot about
the sacrament lately, but something I leaned about it this week blew
my mind! The sacrament is a sacred ordinance, just like baptism and
going through the temple. We don't just wake up one morning and say,
"hey I think I want to get baptized today!" and go and do it, same
with the temple. These things require thought and preparation. We also
should be preparing ourselves beforehand to take the sacrament, not
just wake up on Sunday and say, "hey, I guess I'll take the sacrament
today." And now for the thing that blew me away... the sacrament is
the ONLY ordinance that we do for OURSELVES more than once! We only
get baptized and go through the temple for ourselves once, but we can
take the sacrament 52 times a year every year for the rest of our
lives! Without the sacrament we become dirtier and dirtier, our sins
start to build up, and we fall farther and farther away from God. I
don't think I will ever miss taking the sacrament ever again for the
rest of my life! I never knew how important and how amazing it is!
LOVE YOU ALL!

Well, it seems Ashley had a pretty good week, but she didn't have much time to go into many details. We got photos of painting service she and her companion got to do and photos of the lake around her apartment. She finally got the package I sent her that arrived just after her transfer, so it took some time getting into her hands. She got some shirts she seemed to like, some 4th of July decor (will have to be used for the 24th of July,) some of her favorite Oatmeal Pies, and a necklace that depicts our favorite childhood story--Guess How Much I Love You!
